Teach Yourself To Rap

I have received many emails and comments from individuals all across the world asking me to teach them how to rap. I have been rapping for over twenty-five years and even though I don't perform any gangster rap I have ventured into every type of rap style there is. So with that out of the way, here goes.
The first thing you want to do is to think about what message you want to convey. If you want to rap about hard times, get an idea of the hard times you want to write about. Then I recommend getting a pen and pad and start to jot down the things you are looking to rap about. Some artist like Lil Wayne and Jay-Z claim that they don't write down their lyrics but keep in mind that they have written lyrics for years to get to that point. I have also written entire songs without a pen but you must understand that I have created so many bars and hooks over the years that I can do it in my sleep.
This becomes much easier to understand once you are listening to a beat. But nothing beats reviewing music for your training. check out: www.cdbaby.com/MarcusP
